At Bosak Honda in Michigan City, you’re sure to find a great selection of the latest Honda cars, trucks, and SUVs, including models that deliver strong fuel economy 2014 Honda Fit EVratings like the Honda Fit. After a break from the racing world, Honda is getting back into the F-1 racing circuits, with a goal of taking exhaust gas from conventional cars and turning it into energy. The automaker is hoping this will give their vehicles an edge over their competition.

Return to Formula One Not Just About Racing

While Honda is excited about making a return to Formula One racing, the reasoning behind it isn’t just about racing. The company believes that because F-1 cars are now required to feature gasoline-electric hybrid technology that it offers a chance for Honda to make technological advances.

Honda is looking at possibly using exhaust gas to generate electricity and store it in a battery, which could help a car go further and faster. In addition, it could help boost thermal efficiency of an F-1 car.

Hoping to Apply Technology to Mass-Produced Models

Honda is hoping to be able to take the technology produced and developed for Formula One racing and apply it to their mass-produced vehicles, like the Honda Fit. With Honda Fit fuel economy not only being the best in the lineup, but one of the tops in the entire car market, Honda is hoping to be able to offer more fuel-efficient vehicles like it. Overall, the Japanese automaker wants to give its vehicles engines that offer what Honda F-1 chief Yasuhisa Arai calls “an unknown level of fuel-efficiency.”
