Honda To Release a New Pilot For 2016
For the 2016 model year, Honda is releasing a new Pilot into the market. Rather than just updating the SUV, Honda has decided to completely redesign their three-row 8-passenger flagship and further improve upon their legacy. The current 2015 Honda Pilot and previous versions have helped set industry standards for fuel efficiency, effective interior space usage, and performance. With the new Pilot, Honda hopes to keep raising the bar.
The 2016 Honda Pilot Changes and Specs
Almost every aspect of the new Pilot has been changed and improved from scratch with the goal to accommodate the needs of all the occupants. Better technology, more family-focused utility, and more premium features.
Even the engine is different. The 2016 Honda Pilot runs on a 3.5L SOCH i-VTEC V6 engine that has Variable Cylinder Management, from the Honda EarthDreams Technology series of powertrains. It’s coupled with one of two new advanced transmissions and a smart variable torque management all-wheel drive system. And the aluminum alloy engine material saves weight and increases performance.
But even though it’s powerful and capable, changes to the body have improved the weight and gas mileage on the new Pilot. The upper trim levels save almost 300 lbs from previous models, in part due to the new engine and in part to the new aerodynamics and reduced running resistance. These little changes add up to an overall improvement in gas mileage.
Safety and Price of the New Pilot
The Honda Pilot is an industry staple when talking about safety. The new Pilot shifts to the top of its class in safety performance with an optional all-encompassing safety suite of technology, Honda Sensing. With state-of-the-art driver assist features and a freshly-engineered collision protective body, preventing collisions just got a whole lot easier.
The 2016 Honda Pilot will start with an MSRP of $29,995.* Production is underway in the Honda US manufacturing plant in Alabama, with the first of the vehicles to reach dealerships this month. We here at Bosak Honda Michigan City can’t wait to get our hands on the new Pilot. It represents the quality and innovation we love about the current Honda lineup.
