What’s New for the 2019 Honda Accord?

For more than 40 years, the Accord has been one of the more popular options in the Honda lineup. The vehicle was initially introduced in 1976, and it has been offered over the years as a sedan, a coupe, and a station wagon. It is currently offered as a midsize sedan, and the line ushered in the tenth generation for the 2018 model year. Because the 2018 model year was dramatically overhauled, you will notice that Honda has only made a few minor updates to the 2019 Accord. Some of the small exterior revisions that the automaker has made are to the design for the LED headlights, the rear and front bumpers and the grille, and this differentiates the 2019 model from the 2018 model. Keep in mind that the exterior will only be available in a four-door version with a traditional trunk design and with passenger seating for up to five passengers. When you peek inside the new Accord, you may notice subtle interior design changes as well. Some of the interior features that carry forward from the 2018 model year include an energy management feature on the high-resolution touchscreen, a heads-up display, a navigation system with step-by-step driving instructions, a rearview camera with multi-angle guidelines, a premium audio system with 10 speakers, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a wireless charging station, Bluetooth connectivity, the HondaLink technology app and more. The cloth is standard for all trim levels except the most advanced trim for 2019.

The powertrain and drivetrain options for 2019 are similar to those offered in the 2018 model. One option is a 1.5-liter VTEC engine that provides 192 horsepower, and that comes with a CVT or manual transmission. There is also a 2.0-liter VTEC Turbo engine with 252 horsepower. This engine comes with a ten-speed auto transmission and is paired with paddle shifters to give you a sportier performance. The 2019 model year continues to be available with the same two-engine hybrid design as was available in last year’s model. Some of the many safety features that are included as standard features in the 2019 Honda Accord are the Honda Sensing Safety Suite, LED automatic headlights with auto high beams and daytime running lights, a cross-traffic alert, a blind spot monitor, adaptive cruise control, road sign recognition and many other safety features that inspire confidence behind the wheel.
