New 2016 Honda Accord at Bosak Honda MC for Michigan City, IN

The Honda Accord receives a variety of updates for 2016. Revisions include updated exterior styling (including new LED taillights for all models), revised suspension tuning, new interior trim and, on EX models and above, a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality. All sedans except the base LX model now get a 60/40-split rear seat, while the new Honda Sensing package of driver assistance features is available on all trim levels. With a roomy and high-quality interior; refined powertrains; exceptional ride and handling balance; quick acceleration; generous standard features; and available coupe body style, the Accord is well worth a look.

Under the Accord’s Hood

The Accord Sedan and Coupe are offered with two advanced engines – a direct-injected 2.4-liter inline 4-cylinder engine, and a 3.5-liter V-6 that is the most powerful engine offered in a Honda sedan to date. Available transmissions include a sporty and fuel-efficient continuously variable transmission (CVT) for the 4-cylinder engines, unique 6-speed manuals for the 4-cylinder and V-6 engines, and a 6-speed automatic for V-6 models. The V-6 i-VTEC® system is designed to deliver outstanding performance at any engine speed. The CVT makes for smooth acceleration without sacrificing performance. Plus, the colored coaching bars on either side of the speedometer let you know how you’re driving. A small camera identifies common safety markers like lane dividers and raised pavement markers, and alerts you if it detects that you’re about to leave the road.

Design of Honda Accord

The Accord Sedan and Coupe both get a major facelift for 2016. In place of the previous wrap-around front bumper is a more sharply creased and intricately structured front fascia, the lower portion of which tucks into large intake-like meshed areas that house new LED fog lights (Sport trim and above). For the Accord Sedan, a more sharply creased and contoured aluminum hood replaces the steel version on earlier models and meets up with a brighter, more pronounced front grille. Sensors beep if you’re about to bump into another car or object while parking, and windshield wipers automatically adjust their rate according to the rainfall. The driver’s seat adjusts 10 different ways (Sport and above), and features a two-position memory system. The latest in mobile connectivity, Apple CarPlay allows you to access several of your iPhone features on the Display Audio touch-screen.

Conclusions

Most Honda Accord buyers end up choosing the four-cylinder engine, and they won’t be disappointed, as it revs willingly and delivers its power in a smooth and satisfying manner. Honda’s CVT responds quickly for swift passing maneuvers and then lets the engine rpm drop back smoothly when the need for quick acceleration has passed. Every 2016 Honda Accord comes with antilock disc brakes, stability and traction control, active front head restraints, front seat side airbags and side curtain airbags. A rearview camera is also standard across the board. Lane departure warning, lane and road departure intervention, forward collision warning and forward collision intervention with automatic braking are included with the Honda Sensing package.
